Vince Shirley, Jr. Earns Certification

TUBA CITY, AZ. -- Vincent P. Shirley, Jr., Corporate Compliance Program Officer at Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation (TCRHCC), recently earned certification as a Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) professional. Mr. Shirley received the certification after completing intensive study and passing the Healthcare Compliance Certification Board examination in June 2005.
"The Healthcare Compliance Certification Board (HCCB) offers a rigorous examination that demonstrates a professionals competency in the area of healthcare compliance. This certification is a tremendous accomplishment for Vince," said Dr. Scott Deasy, TCRHCC Interim Chief Executive Officer.
The CHC certification is a national standard for all areas of the healthcare industry, including hospitals, pharmaceutical manufacturers and academic healthcare institutions. Individuals who earn the certification are recognized as professionals with knowledge of regulations and expertise in compliance processes to help healthcare organizations understand and address their legal and ethical obligations. In addition, these individuals promote organizational integrity through the operation of high quality compliance programs.
I view my role as compliance officer as fundamental to the growth of the hospital because, as an organization, we are committed to demonstrating good corporate citizenship to the community we serve as well as responsibility and accountability for our employees, said Vincent Shirley, Jr., CHC. My priority is to help establish and build upon our programs and ensure that our regulatory and ethical compliance continues to meet all applicable healthcare standards.
Mr. Shirley has been in training for the Compliance Officer position for several months and came to TCRHCC with a background that matches the needs of this position. He is a graduate of Arizona State University and joined TCRHCC in 2003. He has held a variety of positions including Environmental Health Officer III and Interim Safety Officer. In 2004 he was provided the opportunity to become Corporate Compliance Officer for the hospital. Prior to his experience at TCRHCC, Mr. Shirley worked in the private sector with Fortune 500 companies such as Intel Corporation and Motorola, Inc. His expertise includes an impressive background in the area of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS).
